Amarillo Chapter Projects
The Amarillo Chapter has three native plant demonstration beds. The first is
a large bed in a natural setting in front of the Wildcat
Bluff Nature Center located on Soncy Road (Loop 335) three miles north of
Interstate 40 in Amarillo, Texas.
The second is a bed at the main entrance at Panhandle
Plains Historical Museum located at 2503 4th Avenue in Canyon, Texas. It
is our smallest bed but loaded with native plants of the
Panhandle.
Our newest bed is at the Palo
Duro Canyon State Park visitor center located on the canyon rim. It was planted
in April 2002 and is slowly establishing itself. Thanks to Gaillardia pulchella and
a few other varieties, it has been alive with color since its first summer.
