In addition to our meetings, the Collin County Chapter of NPSOT holds an annual native plant garden tour in May. This tour features two or three business locations and four or five private homes. A native plant garden may be just a small planted area. The whole property does not have to be included. Anyone who wishes to submit their property for this tour are urged to contact a member of the Native Plant Garden Tour Committee listed under the "Officers" menu of this web site. This is our chapter’s main fundraiser. Money from this tour is used to fund local native plant demonstration gardens and other native plant efforts.
The Collin County Chapter of NPSOT has gone on plant digs/rescues to benefit native plant demonstration gardens.
The Collin Count Chapter of NPSOT sponsors field trips. In past years, we toured the Clymer Meadow in Hunt County and were taken on a native plant garden shop tour at the Shades of Green Nursery in Frisco.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses meeting baseline sustainability criteria. The Live Green in Plano Expo invites organizations and businesses that support our objectives to join us in producing this unique community-oriented event. Event sponsorship is a mutually-beneficial partnership that provides the cash and in-kind support necessary for us to reach an increasingly broad audience and offer a quality event. Sponsors partnering with the Live Green in Plano Expo benefit in many ways, including the acknowledgement of their commitment to a better environment and the association with a widely publicized, positive, community-oriented event. Sponsorship opportunities range from $10,000 to $1,000.
The Live Green in Plano Expo will showcase a variety of Exhibitors that provide information, resources, services, products, and motivation for attendees to make more ecologically sustainable lifestyle choices. Sustainability is often defined as “to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.” The Live Green in Plano Expo will evaluate exhibitors’ applications based on baseline criteria to ensure a commitment to sustainability among all participants. Attributes of significance include the following: energy efficient/renewable energy, conserves/protects water and air, less toxic, plant-based, locally/regionally produced, reduces waste, durable/reusable, recycled content, organic, and promotes environmental values. Exhibitor’s booth rates begin at $250 for commercial and $25 for non-profit.
