Upcoming News and Events
- On August 16 Carol Feldman will be presenting "It's All About Water". 7pm at the regular monthly meeting at REI.
Where does the water go? The Dallas Metroplex is one of the largest water consumers per capita in the U.S. Some sources say that 60-80% of our water use is in the landscape. Lowering outdoor water use can significantly lower your water bill and conserve water. Native plants, smaller turf areas, mulch use in planting beds, and raising your mowing height are some ways that homeowners can decrease outdoor water use. Recent Green certifications have produced quantifying calculations and charts that show water savings in the landscape. This presentation will use these calculations to compare the use of native plants with non-natives in a common size landscape. The presentation will also take a look at some water saving techniques in home irrigation systems.
The presenter, Carol Feldman is a veteran Landscape Architect that focuses on water wise landscape design.
