BIG
BEND NATIONAL PARK:
A
NATURALIST’S DREAMLAND
The
program for our meeting on Tuesday,
December 7h will be given by Bill Lindemann
.The title of the talk is “Big Bend National Park: A Naturalist”s
Dreamland” It will
concentrate on the plants of the Big Bend area as opposed to other
aspects covered in a previous talk for the general public.
Bill
was born in Gonzales County, Texas and graduated from the University of
Texas with a Masters degree in geology He retired in 1994 to
Fredericksburg where he writes a weekly birding column for the
Fredericksburg Standard Radio-Post and
the Kerrville Daily Times. He is the former President of the Native
Plant Society of Texas and was awarded the
Nancy Benedict Memorial Award by the Native Plant Society of Texas for
establishing the Fredericksburg Nature Center and the Friends of the
Fredericksburg Nature Center Organization. He is the President of the
Board of Directors for the Friends of the Fredericksburg Nature Center.He
also serves on the Board of Directors for the
Hill Country Historical Foundation and the Hill Country Land Trust
The
Kerrville Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas holds monthly
meetings on the first Tuesday of the month (September through June) at
2:00PM usually at Riverside Nature Center, 150 Francisco Lemos
St. in Kerrville. These
meetings are free and open to the public.
