NATIVES ON THE GROW
Dedicated to
the understanding, preservation and enjoyment of the native flora of the Hill
Country
The Kerrville Chapter of the Native
Plant Society of Texas holds monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of the month
(September through June) at Riverside Nature Center, 150 Francisco Lemos St. in
Kerrville. These meetings are free
and open to the public
December Meeting
Holiday Social and Plant Exchange

From the chapter president
Please come to the NPSOT Holiday Social
and Plant Exchange on Tuesday December 2, at 6:30pm-9:30 and bring others who
are interested in native plants.
The event is modeled on the popular Holiday Social and Plant Exchange that the
Houston Chapter of NPSOT has every year. People bring native plants or seeds and
share them with other native plant enthusiasts, snack, exchange ideas and
generally have just have a great time getting to know each other!! It is hoped
that many native plant people will be able to attend our first evening meeting
and our first social meeting. Everyone on the NPSOT, Kerrville Chapter
board has been working to make this event successful.
The new
edition of Native Plants for Landscaping
the in Texas Hill Country will be available December 2 at the party. Scott
Magee and Priscilla Stanley updated the plant
information. Edna Platte
worked on the bibliography, Adele Junkin updated the websites, and most
importantly, Cynthia Anderson proofed it, found a printer and pulled the whole
publication together. We have such a great team who worked together on this
project. This popular brochure will be available free at Riverside Nature Center
and many other locations such as nurseries and organizations that are concerned
about plants.
It will be great to see you on December 2, with or without food or plants.
I hope most members can attend and bring others who also enjoy native plants.
Happy
Holidays!
Edna Platte
From the program chairperson
This is the
kick-off to our evening meetings (there will be two more in the next few
months.) This will be a great time to socialize with other members.
If convenient, bring your favorite finger-food, such as dip & chips,
crackers & cheese, or something sweet. NPSOT will provide the
beverages.
If you have plants, seeds, nuts or cuttings to share, bring them for the plant
swap. Please label what you bring, including any growing tips. Natives
preferred! (See our webpage on Hill Country Flora for suggestions.) http://www.npsot.org/Kerrville/hill_country_flora.htm
We will be giving out our newly updated Recommended
Native Plants for Hill Country Landscaping – produced by our members and
hot off the press!
Bring your friends – Visitors welcome.
From the Director of Communications

the invitation has been fabulous. It’s going to be a wonderful evening! We
