NPSOT Board Minutes
December 13, 2011
The meeting was called to order by President Bill Stone. Board members present were Marilyn Butcher, Cindy Anderson, Nina Wagner, and Martha Miesch. The minutes were approved for the November 3rd board meeting that was distributed by e-mail. Trish Stone will distribute the treasurer’s report at the January board meeting.
Marilyn stated that additional publicity had been arranged to publicize the January program featuring Harvey Hilderbran who will discuss “Texas 2011 Thoughts on Key Water and Natural Resources Legislation Passed”. Questions will be encouraged on this important issue.
Bill discussed a recent contact he had responded to from KPUB concerning assistance choosing native trees for their giveaway this spring. The KPUB supplier has Shumard (red) oak, live oak, Mexican redbud, Southern Wax Myrtle, and Desert Willow. Lacey oak and Mexican/Monterrey oak are unavailable from their supplier. Using native species rather than invasive species has been an important chapter contribution to the community.
Bill, Trish, and Cindy attended the Earth Day planning committee meeting on Fri. the 4th. The RNC planning committee was not receptive to any changes the NPSOT members made for the Earth Day Plant Sale. NPSOT will be responsible for planning and organizing the sale for 2012.
Meeting was adjourned.
Respectively submitted,
Martha Miesch
