Chapter November, 2008 NATIVES ON THE GROWDedicated to the understanding, preservation and enjoyment of the native flora of the Hill Country The Kerrville Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas holds monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of the month (September through June) at Riverside Nature Center, 150 Francisco Lemos St. in Kerrville. These meetings are free and open to the public
November Meeting Riverside Nature Center Tuesday, Nov 4, 2008 2:00 pm Presentation on the Kerrville Schreiner Park Butterfly Garden Cathy Downs will share information and pictures on the garden’s start-up and design and will talk about native plants that attract caterpillars and butterflies. A special focus will be on monarch butterfly migration and butterfly monitoring in general. Come and enjoy this beautiful presentation and find out how you can volunteer. Special reminder: The
Lemos Street bridge may be closed, so seek an alternate route if necessary.
December Meeting Tuesday, Dec 2, 6:30-8:30 pm This will be the kick-off of our series of evening meetings. Holiday social & native plant/seed exchange. Bring finger foods and plants to trade. Now is the time to start collecting seeds or rooting cuttings
of woody plants. Evening Meetings The next evening meeting is scheduled for February 2009.
President’ Message November 4 is Election Day, so please vote
before or after the meeting. Bob Richie will assume responsibility for the
library garden. Bob is a Master Naturalist and a member of the Kerrville
Cactus Club. He worked with the library garden signs a few years ago but
spent much of the last two years working in Alaska. Thank you,
Bob, for doing this job.
NPSOT, Strategic Goals and Objectives for
2009-2012 were recently introduced. This planning document should be available on
NPSOT’s website or I can email you a copy. It will be used to provide more
focus for state and chapter activities. Remember our first evening meeting will
be a plant exchange and holiday social Tuesday, December 2. Save your
