Dedicated to the understanding, preservation and enjoyment of the native flora of the Hill Country October  Program

  Plants of the Llano Uplift

 Our meeting on Tuesday, October 5th will be given by Michael McBride. It will concentrate on plants that are unique to the area(endemic), are not found nearby(disjunct populations) and are normally found farther east or west of the Hill Country. Some of the plants commonly found in abundance will also be covered.

 Mike has a degree in electrical engineering and worked at IBM for 30+ years designing electronics and software for office products. Jennifer and he retired to Fredericksburg in 2000. Mike has been a member of NPSOT for 17years and currently is serving as President of the State organization. In the past he has also served 2 years as VP-administration and has been state webmaster since 2000. In 2003 he was President of the Fredericksburg Chapter of NPSOT

 The Kerrville Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas holds monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of the month (September through June) usually at Riverside Nature Center, 150 Francisco Lemos St. in Kerrville.  These meetings are free and open to the public.  If you have any questions about the Native Plant Society of Texas, or this program, please call June Hartley at 896-5191.

  October 2 at 10AM: Down By the Riverside Festival. “Mostly Native “Tree and Plant Sale from 8AM to 3PM

October 5 at 2 PM: Plants of the Llano Uplift by Mike McBride of NPSOT – Fredericksburg Chapter and Past President of the State NPSOT at Riverside Nature Center. (see article above).

 DOOR PRIZES

Our door prizes will return at our October meeting.  Each member or visitor who signs in at the Welcoming table receives a free ticket for the door prize drawings of native plants.
