speaks on the History of Fort Worth Botanical Gardens, including a virtual
tour from the archives. Steven L. Chamblee has over 25 years of pragmatic horticultural experience. He is currently Horticultural Director of Chandor Gardens in Weatherford. He has an AAS in Horticulture from TCJC and BS from Tarleton State, and an MS in Public Horticulture Administration from the University of Delaware. He has studied hundreds of gardens in the United States, Mexico, Canada, Hawaii, Denmark and Costa Rica. |

Arlington City Council member, speaks on the Hill Street Elementary
Wildscape Garden and various school garden projects. Any school garden is
welcome to bring a display of their project.

| July 13, 2006 | "Butterflies & Natives" - Joann Karges, retired librarian from TCU, butterfly authority, and longtime BRIT volunteer, will be in charge of the program. We will be exploring host and nectar plants which can be part of our native plant gardens. Everyone is invited to bring plant samples which they have noted being frequented by caterpillars or butterflies. |
| August 10, 2006 | John Snowden of Bluestem Nursery – Grasses identification and use. Our local hands-down expert on native grasses talks about the best grasses for various habitats and how to identify them. Will also be signing up groups for field trip the following weekends. Group size limited - first come first served. |
| September 14, 2006 | The Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT) staff and others – “Feasting on Natives” – much of the native plantlife is not only edible, but tasty. Come learn which to enjoy and how to prepare them. |

Plant Exchange – bring a native plant to exchange at the meeting and take
home a new one to try in your landscape. Please bring a plant, seeds, bulbs or other propagative part, along with a note telling its identity, description, growth habits, size, care and other general infomation about it. Tour the selection to learn about natives, and get to take one home. |
| November 9, 2006 | Helena van Heiningen presents "NPSOT, What's it all about?" -- which covers NPSOT history (we are 25 years old) and where the organization is today, and the benefits of the organization.
Her talk will be followed by a report on the Annual Conference by several members just back from attending the conference. |
