We had a great field trip to the Gault Archaeological SIte which is in Central Texas near Salado. We were guided on the tour by Dr. Clark Wernecke. Human occupation on the site goes back at least 13,500 years and an estimated 1.7 million artifacts have been recovered thus far. The site is extremely important in answering the question of the peopling of the Americas - who were the first peoples, what were they like, and where did they come from?
