July 9, 2009 Williamson County Chapter of NPSOT meeting minutes from Marilyn Perz

Janet Church called the meeting to order at 7:25pm.  The 28 members and visitors, who were present, had been enjoying socializing over the snacks that had been provided by the Red Poppy Cafˇ.

Janet announced the election of officers:

Kathy Galloway will continue as Treasurer

Marilyn Perz will continue as Secretary

Dennis Perz & Sue Wiseman moved to accept the nominations and Agnes provided the second to this motion.  The membership voted in favor of the slate of officers.

Kathy McCormack provided updates on the coming Botany Class on July 18 at 1:00pm in the REI Community Room.  On August 1, 2009 from 8-10 am we will do the summer survey of plants at the Gault Site.  She has booked the trip to the Bamberger Ranch for Wednesday, November 11th from 9-12:30am.  It takes 1 1/2 hours to reach the Ranch and the cost will be $15 to ride the covered trailer to see fall foliage and grasses.

Christine Powell asked everyone to get their articles written and sent to her as soon as possible for the next issue of the Grapevine.  She had Vicky Husband present Sue Wiseman with a silver ponyfoot plant for identifying the mystery plant in the last issue of the Grapevine.

Sue Wiseman spoke regarding the finances for Kathy Galloway our Treasurer.  There is $8,168.63 in the treasury.  A proposed budget was passed out (included).  Sue encouraged the membership to spend some of these funds on projects.  Janet Church said that she is working on a system to accept credit cards at plant sales and validate them using her phone.  She feels that this will help increase sales.  Janet asked for $500 to be spent to sponsor some of the activities at the Wildflower Center Texas Plant Conservation Conference in September.  Dale McQuinn made a motion to give this money and Kathy Mitchamore provided a second.  The membership voted to provide the funds.  Janet will be working with Dar Richardson and Gabriel Valley Farms to provide plants for the September and November Second Saturday Market Days in Georgetown and the Wildflower plant sale on October 9, 10, 11.

Christine Powell announced that the Williamson County Master Gardeners next class will begin in August.

Agnes Plutino announced that Dar Richardson (a good friend and neighbor of Nina Erminger) will be designing a piece of sculpture for display at the Georgetown Library as her memorial.

Dennis Perz provided leadership and note taking for the Brainstorming session. (included)
