The meeting was held in the 'ballroom' at Sun City, west of Georgetown.
President Phyllis Dolich called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m., welcomed members and guests, and wished everyone a 'Happy New Year'.
(a) Attendance was approximately 50, with two guests.
(b) Phyllis noted that the room we were meeting in would be used as the main meeting room when we host the 'state symposium' in October (2007). Several other rooms at the facility would also be used.
(c) Sue Wiseman gave a report on speakers that would be participating at the 'symposium' - those confirmed and those her committee have contacted. She provided information on registration, field trips, a Bar-B-Q, the banquet, etc. Sue also put out 'feelers' in regards to including a 'home tour' and a request for volunteers.
(d) Phyllis reported that we will sponsor a 'photo contest' in conjunction with the symposium. Copies of the rules were available. The contest has been planned by Jennifer Haymen.
(e) Phyllis reminded members of the state's 'quarterly meeting' in Fredericksburg on Jan. 20.
(f) Marilyn Perz told of a Heritage Garden outreach program that is being developed; a booth with a demonstration table is to be set up at Annie Pearl School on Thursday, March l; and they are looking for volunteers.
(g) Billye Adams reminded members of our supply of 'Grow Green' booklets that sell for $2 each. (h) Phyllis provided information on several future events, including hikes, field trips, programs, classes and meetings.
(i) She also announced that her home's native habitat would be featured on KLRU's Central Texas Gardener, at noon on February 3.
(j) Treasurer's Report: Treasurer Kathy Galloway reported $7568 in our treasury. The 'Silent Auction' held during the December meeting generated $476.50.
(k) The February 8 (monthly meeting) will be held back at the agriculture/extension building.
(l) Programs - Pat McNeil was introduced as the evening's speaker. His program - 'Planting the right plant in the right place'. February speaker will be Judy Barrett.
(M) Kathy McCormick returned with a summary/response to last month's questionnaire that she circulated.
