Donovan Stewart Correll Memorial Award

For scientific writing in the field of the native flora of Texas


Dr. Donovan Correll, Taxonomist, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, Coral Gables, Florida. Author of Ferns and Fern Allies of Texas (1956), senior author of the Manual of the Vascular Plants of Texas (1970), author of Alaska Highway Adventure (1981), and other publications. Secured for Texas the Oakes Ames Botanical Library, renamed the Lundell Rare Book Library, housed at the University of Texas at Austin. Recipient of grants totaling more than $600,000. His botanical field explorations from 1935-1978 yielded more than 50,000 specimens for research projects.
