Best of Texas Backyard Habitats

This is a wildlife habitat certification program sponsored by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) and the National Wildlife Federation (NWF).  TPWD and NWF have developed a partnership that offers Texans a way to certify their landscapes as official wildlife habitat sites.   For more information visit the TPWD website (www.tpwd.state.tx.us) or the NWF website (www.nwf.org/backyardwildlifehabitat/texasparks.cfm).

One of our member's backyard habitats was featured on the PBS program Central Texas Gardener (the February 3, 2007 episode). Phyllis Dolich talks about her experience creating a wildlife habitat at her home near Georgetown with mostly native plants.   She is an active member of the Williamson County chapter of NPSOT and currently that chapter's president and is President-Elect of the state organization.
