DESCRIPTION:Habitat volunteers help weed and mulch flower beds\, plant native plants\, maintain pathways\, and trim trees and bushes. Volunteers may also help clean out the pond on select work days. \n\n\n\n\nNo experience necessary—we’ll show you what goes and what stays\n\n\n\nBring your own tools or use ours (we have gloves too)\n\n\n\nDon’t forget to bring a reusable water bottle\, hat\, and sunscreen!\n\n\n\n\nVolunteers must be 18 or older to participate in EIH’s workdays unless prior arrangements have been made. \n\n\n\nWe do not hold workdays when the university is officially closed. Also\, workdays are canceled during inclement weather\, though a light sprinkle or drizzle rarely keeps us out of the garden. DESCRIPTION:Chapter Meeting at Hunke Gathering Hall at Herff Farm – 6:00pm Social Time\, 6:45pm – 8:15pm Chapter Announcements followed by presentation. \n\n\n\nSpeaker – Scott Johnson\, a conservationist\, certified outdoor educator\, and former zoologist who has held positions ranging from reptile keeper to director of education.  Throughout Scott’s career he specialized primarily in reptiles and has worked closely with Louisiana Pinesnake conservation in East Texas\, Conservation Education in Florida. He has also worked with Crocodilians in India at the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and Center for Herpetology. Scott recently left the zoology field so he could be closer to his family in Texas and continues to work on connecting people with nature and promoting conservation initiatives. \n\n\n\nTopic: Coexistence – Native Plants\, Reptiles\, Amphibians\, and People.

SUMMARY:Collin County Chapter - Member Show and Tell
DESCRIPTION:Our chapter’s annual “Show and Tell” meeting will be on Tuesday September 3. Members and other attendees are encouraged to show pictures and tell about their favorite native Texas plants. Everyone is invited to participate and there is no minimum length\, but we request presentations to be limited to 10 minutes. The only requirement is that you show and discuss native Texas plants. \n\n\n\nThe meeting will be a hybrid\, with attendance options either in-person at the Heard Museum’s Laughlin Hall or virtually via Zoom. Enter Laughlin Hall from the southern entrance to the museum. Presenters can be in person or remote. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTo participate\, all you need to do is send an email to timcast@gmail.com with a PowerPoint\, Google Slides\, or PDF that you will be showing. Please convert presentations in Apple’s Keynote software to one of these formats. Also\, please do not send photos – convert them into a PDF format using Microsoft’s or Apple’s “Print to PDF” function. This will ensure your photos are in the order you want to present. \n\n\n\nSocial time starts at 6:30 pm\, at 7:00 our chapter president\, Rodney Thomas\, will give a brief chapter update\, and followed by the showing and telling of our native plants.
