DESCRIPTION:We see our gardens magically bloom in sync with bird migrations every Spring and Fall. More and more\, we are learning to garden for wildlife\, not merely for our enjoyment. But there is still so much we have to learn. Come spend an evening with someone seeking answers\, Dr. Andrea Contina\, Assistant Professor\, School of Integrative Biological and Chemical Sciences at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. \n\n\n\nDr. Contina studies avian communities and their movements across North and Central America. At Contina Lab\, Dr. Contina and his students study the ecological mechanisms underlying species resilience under local and global change\, with emphasis on migratory populations. Their research informs conservation plans that increases wildlife protection\, sustainable resource management\, and creates opportunities for interdisciplinary education in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. \n\n\n\n(You may have seen Dr. Contina on the news last week regarding their SONAR project.)
