But how can we scale up these efforts to make an even greater impact? In this talk\, Krista De Cooke\, Strategic Partnership and Science Lead at Homegrown National Park\, will share how individual actions in yards across the country are fueling a national movement to restore twenty million acres of private land for biodiversity. Learn how you can play a key role in expanding native habitat\, engaging new audiences\, and strengthening the native plant movement. We’ll discuss practical ways to inspire others\, connect local efforts to a broader national initiative\, and grow our collective impact. \n\n\n\nAbout the Speaker\n\n\n\n\nKrista De Cooke is the Strategic Partnership and Science Lead for Homegrown National Park\, where she leverages her background in ecology and business to advance ecosystem regeneration and biodiversity conservation. With extensive experience\, Krista collaborates with a wide range of stakeholders to promote the planting of native species on private lands. Her expertise has been essential in expanding the Homegrown National Park initiative across multiple regions\, empowering communities to engage in meaningful conservation efforts and create positive environmental change. \n\n\n\n\nIn-person – Parking Pass Required\n\n\n\nIf you have a pass\, don’t forget it – you will not get another one if you picked one up previously. DESCRIPTION:Join NPSOT-Williamson County in-person at 6:30 PM on Thursday\, March 13\, 2025 for social time followed by our featured topic The Texabama Croton – A Botanical Enigma with Tyson Bartlett.  Free and open to the public. This month’s meeting starts at 6:30 PM with social time and refreshments. Chapter business starts at 7:15 PM followed by Tyson’s presentation. \n\n\n\n=> This month\, we meet in-person only\, at the Round Rock Public Library\, 200 E Liberty Ave\, Round Rock\, TX 78664. \n\n\n\nAbout this month’s social time:  Celebrate spring!  Connect with fellow members and guests over a light meal prior to the business meeting and featured speaker. Refreshments will be a mix of finger foods & beverages. Learn more about all the activities going on in the chapter. NPSOT-Wilco board members will be on hand to chat about current projects and committees. \n\n\n\nAbout our featured topic:   The Texabama Croton is a rare but beautiful species of shrub in the Euphorbiaceae family known from small areas of Texas and Alabama. There are numerous oddities about the plant\, such as its habitat and range\, discovery\, and lack of cultivation. \n\n\n\nThis presentation will shed light on what makes the Texabama Croton a botanical enigma and some important lessons with vast implications for Central Texas ecosystems that can be gleaned by studying the plant. \n\n\n\nAbout our guest speaker:   Tyson Bartlett is a self-taught native plant enthusiast who serves as a Director at Large on the board of directors for the Williamson County Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas. He is also a member of the Good Water Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists and started the Williamson County Nature Journaling Club to promote the appreciation of nature through art and observation.
