DESCRIPTION:Brandon Hall has invited NPSOT members to his Cumby property on June 12 (RSVP required). He says\, “My property is 10 acres of long-neglected native prairie and post oak woodland. The 4 acres of prairie is dominated by cool-season forbs\, grasses and sedges\, plum thickets\, and native warm season prairie species such as Florida paspalum\, long-spike tridens\, and plains love grass. “The post oak woodland contains examples of mima mounds and is dominated by mature post oaks with elm and eastern red cedar encroachment. Fire\, clearing\, plantings\, and invasive species control has just begun throughout the property to augment the already abundant native habitat.”

Meleena’s creative genius includes her garden layout and artistic structural pieces displayed that she designed herself. \n\n\n\nBest of all\, Meleena will invite us into her garage workshop where she does ceramics and flower arranging! Join Travis Audubon and Native Plant Society of Texas for a bird and plant identification walk at Waterloo Park\, where we will learn more about local flora and fauna and how the two benefit each other. Beginner birders and plant enthusiasts are welcome to this leisurely exploration of nature at one of downtown’s best parks! \n\n\n\nThe address listed will take you to a meeting spot. You are welcome to park inside the Capitol visitors parking garage (1201 San Jacinto Blvd) and walk across the street to Waterloo Park. \n\n\n\nRegistration will be through Travis Audubon here.
