SUMMARY:Boerne City Campus Natural Area (BCCNA) Workday
DESCRIPTION:Join us for BCCNA workdays! \n\n\n\nThe BCCNA project involves the restoration and enhancement of the Boerne City Campus Natural Area (BCCNA). The BCCNA is comprised of 13-acres on either side of the Old No. 9 Trail\, behind the library. We are working towards restoring this area to a native pollinator habitat\, creating a wildlife corridor and haven within the city. \n\n\n\nBCCNA Workdays take place on the first and third Thursdays of each month. \n\n\n\nOur meeting place will be in the Boerne Patrick Heath Public Library parking lot near the windmill. If you don’t see us at the windmill\, walk out behind the library across the creek as we’ve likely already started!  \n\n\n\nEach volunteer will be required to fill out the City of Boerne’s liability waiver the first time he or she volunteers. \n\n\n\nContact Jeff Schwarz at jeffschwarz27@gmail.com for more info.

SUMMARY:Wild Spices: Adding a Taste of Native Texas to Your Table - September 18
DESCRIPTION:Early traders could have saved themselves a lot of time and trouble traveling around the world in search of spices if they had just come to Texas. Our rich plant diversity is filled with wonderful\, native seasoning and spice plants that will satisfy even the most demanding palate. Join internationally recognized foraging instructor and author Dr. Mark Vorderbruggen aka “Merriwether” for a dive into his favorite wild herbs for jazzing up his meals and soon yours! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Speaker \n\n\n\nDr. Vorderbruggen is a preacher of cavemanosity\, forever trying to help people’s health by teaching them what their bodies need based on their ancient evolution. To do this\, he first lures you in with the edible and medicinal plants that still surround us\, followed by opening your eyes to nature\, humans\, and why they co-evolved to need each other. This has led to books\, magazine articles\, hundreds of interviews and nearly 1000 speaking engagements over the last 20 years. When not doing that\, he still creates nature-based products for companies ranging from snack foods to painting chemicals. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur monthly chapter meetings are held on every 3rd Thursday\, January – November. Our meetings are free and open to the public thanks to our members and sponsors. \n\n\n\nThe presentation will start at 7:00 pm\, but come at 6:45 pm for a meet and greet with snacks. \n\n\n\nHouston Arboretum and Nature Center \n\n\n\n610 Entrance (preferred)120 W Loop N FwyHouston\, TX 77024 \n\n\n\nWoodway Entrance4501 Woodway DriveHouston\, TX 77024 \n\n\n\nMeetings will also be live-streamed and recorded for later viewing. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReturn to Houston Chapter Page

SUMMARY:San Antonio Chapter Meeting September 2025
DESCRIPTION:Arrive at 6:30pm to share or find native plants at the Plants x Donation table. \n\n\n\nThis will be a “hybrid” meeting\, attend in-person or online. \n\n\n\n\nIn person: The Gathering Center at the Urban Ecology Center at Phil Hardberger Park\, 8400 NW Military Hwy\n\n\n\nOnline: Please register in advance to attend via Zoom.\n\n\n\n\nPresentation by Cleveland Powell\, Brad Weir\, Juan Soulas Conservation Planners at SAWSCultivating Water Savings with Native Plants\, A Retrospective of SAWS Conservation\n\n\n\nWhen it comes to saving water in a rapidly growing and drought-prone service area\, SAWS Conservation’s thinking about what works in SA landscapes has changed a lot even in the past twenty years. While native plants and the gardeners that love them have always been an important part of conservation messaging\, their availability has improved dramatically from what was once a somewhat niche market\, with many more options available from plant vendors. Looking at whether WaterSaver plants once recommended are still thriving in today’s conditions\, Cleve Powell\, Juan Soulas and Brad Wier will discuss how SAWS is using native plants to update its programs today. \n\n\n\nIf you are attending in person\, there is no need to register. However\, if you are attending via Zoom\, please register here before the meeting begins as late registration and entry will not be allowed. After registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. \n\n\n\nNote: The Zoom recording will be available within days after the meeting on our  YouTube channel.
