The Possumhaw holly retains its brilliant berries well into the winter which makes for some wonderful red for the holidays. \n\n\n\nBoth hollies are Texas natives and grow easily in Parker County\, and the Cross Timbers eco region. Instead of causing harm\, we now know mountain cedars are benefitting the region since they regenerate degraded karst country or sustain groundwaters\, healthy soils\, deep carbon storage\, biodiversity\, while reducing fire risk and flooding. You will learn why we need to use mountain cedars and other nature-based solutions to help regenerate and protect these lands.  \n\n\n\nElizabeth McGreevy\, a sixth-generation Texas and Texas A&M graduate\, is a natural resources ecologist and author of the book “Wanted!
