SUMMARY:Go Native: Natives for Your Landscape
DESCRIPTION:Location: The Urban Ecology Center at Phil Hardberger Park\, 8400 NW Military Hwy\, San Antonio\, TX 78231 \n\n\n\nThe purpose of this walk is to familiarize attendees about Texas native plants that you can incorporate into your own home landscape. The walk will focus on plantings around the Urban Ecology Center and the Alamo Area Master Naturalist Demonstration Garden and various naturally occurring plants in the park. \n\n\n\nThis event is presented by the San Antonio Chapter – Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT-SA) chapter. It will be led by Joan Miller\, a former president of NPSOT-SA and Drake White of The Nectar Bar\, both active plant propagators\, identifiers of native plants\, and teachers/event leaders of all things related to native plants. \n\n\n\nJoan and Drake also discuss where in your landscape to use the plant\, its water requirements\, and tips for caring for the plant\, especially when and how much to cut back. They also point out how the plants function in the ecosystem especially which butterflies utilize the plants. Bring your questions and re-imagine your yard by incorporating new native plants ! \n\n\n\nPlease arrive about 7:45 am to sign up for a 8:00 am departure. We will walk around the UEC\, along several paths from the UEC\, and finish in the Demonstration Garden. There will be brief explanations of natives seen along the away that are candidates for the home landscape. \n\n\n\nMinors only when accompanied by an adult parent/guardian. Dogs allowed if leashed and socialized. DIFFICULTY: Easy\, definitely suitable for families. Flat terrain\, slow-paced. This will be a less than 1.0-mile walk and last about two hours ending back at the Urban Ecology Center around 10:00 am. \n\n\n\nThe trail is a natural surface so be sure to wear sturdy shoes and\, dependent on the weather\, bring water\, sun protection\, and dress appropriate for the day and season. Suggested $3 individual or $5 family donations to the PHP Conservancy to support enhancements to the park. \n\n\n\nThis event’s co-sponsors are the Phil Hardberger Park Conservancy\, the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department’s Natural Areas Office\, the Alamo Area Master Naturalists\, and the Alamo Group of the Sierra Club. The lead sponsor is the NPSOT-SA chapter. \n\n\n\nContact Texas Master Naturalist Jean Hackett (jhackett@me.com) for additional information or questions. \n\n\n\nLEARN MORE AND RSVP

SUMMARY:Boerne City Campus Natural Area (BCCNA) Workday
DESCRIPTION:Join us for BCCNA workdays! \n\n\n\nThe BCCNA project involves the restoration and enhancement of the Boerne City Campus Natural Area (BCCNA). The BCCNA is comprised of 13-acres on either side of the Old No. 9 Trail\, behind the library. We are working towards restoring this area to a native pollinator habitat\, creating a wildlife corridor and haven within the city. \n\n\n\nBCCNA Workdays take place on the first and third Thursdays of each month. \n\n\n\nOur meeting place will be in the Boerne Patrick Heath Public Library parking lot near the windmill. If you don’t see us at the windmill\, walk out behind the library across the creek as we’ve likely already started!  \n\n\n\nEach volunteer will be required to fill out the City of Boerne’s liability waiver the first time he or she volunteers. \n\n\n\nContact Jeff Schwarz at jeffschwarz27@gmail.com for more info.

SUMMARY:All Seasons Field Trip: Summer\, Benbrook\, North Central Chapter
DESCRIPTION:Come explore the Benbrook Environmentally Sensitive Area with us. This 700-acre site has been designated as an Environmentally Sensitive Area (ESA) by the Army Corps of Engineers. Part of the greater Fort Worth Prairie ecoregion\, it offers views of the unspoiled grand prairie with riparian features. \n\n\n\nThere are a multitude of native prairie grasses and forbs. Seeing it in winter\, spring\, summer\, and fall provides a better understanding of the ecosystem and an appreciation for nature’s beauty. It’s great for birders year-round and for those interested in looking for monarch caterpillars (in April & May). \n\n\n\nWe will walk about two miles\, and you will need sturdy shoes and tick prevention/precautions. There will also be some rocky-ish ups and downs. Kim Conrow\, a member of NPSOT and a Texas Master Naturalist\, will lead the hike. Kim has been coming to the ESA for several years and is eager to share her knowledge of this area with us. \n\n\n\nYou do not need to be a NPSOT member to attend this event. Attendees will need to sign a liability and photo waiver. This is a FREE event! \n\n\n\nRegistration is limited to 20 people. You can sign up for one date\, or all of them! Participants who complete all 4 will receive a certificate. \n\n\n\nSign up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D4FA8A72AA3FAC52-milkweed \n\n\n\nSUMMER: Saturday\, July 18\, 7:30am (2-hour event)FALL: TBA \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLOCATION:Meeting point will be emailed to registrants.Benbrook Lake AreaBenbrook\, TX

SUMMARY:Transformation of Lewisville Spaces to Thriving Habitats and Short Business Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The City of Lewisville Parks and Recreation Department has taken an important step towards preserving and protecting the local ecosystem by establishing pollinator prairies and no-mow zones. These prairies are designed to provide habitats for various pollinators\, such as bees\, butterflies\, and birds\, who play a crucial role in pollinating flowers and crops. The initiative involved transforming unused spaces in the city\, such as road medians and undeveloped parkland\, into thriving habitats for pollinators with the help of native plants and wildflowers. Chris Chastain\, Environmental Preserve and Greenbelt Manager\, will present the program and answer all your questions. \n\n\n\n6:30 pm – Social time7:00 pm – Zoom opens and meeting begins \n\n\n\nOpen to the public. \n\n\n\nWe hope you can join our meeting in person at TWU’s Ann Stuart Science Complex.  Campus parking is open after 6:00 pm. \n\n\n\nIf you can’t join us in person\, we invite you to our Zoom meeting. \n\n\n\nZOOM PARTICIPANTS ONLY: Please Register in advance for this meeting: \n\n\n\nhttps://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/wm475rUZRam2kATnwYJuKw \n\n\n\nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting
