SUMMARY:Austin Chapter Meeting: Mycology 101 in Central Texas
DESCRIPTION:Please note: Our location has changed! It will not be at the Lakewood Clubhouse. Please see location below. It will be at a private home. \n\n\n\nOur next Austin Chapter meeting will be Tuesday\, March 24\, 2026\, at 7pm with a social half-hour starting at 6:30PM. \n\n\n\nMycology 101 in Central Texas \n\n\n\nJoin us to discover fungi’s role in ecosystems and four ways to upcycle mushroom blocks: nourishing plants and wildlife\, building water-efficient\, fungal-rich soil\, and remediating contaminated sites. This class will equip you with practical skills to promote sustainability\, improve soil health\, and up-cycle mushroom blocks. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKathleen Walsh is a Central Texas–based mycophile with a passion for building community through education and empowerment. She believes mushrooms offer powerful healing properties for the mind and body and loves sharing that knowledge in a fun and accessible way.  \n\n\n\nJoin us for our monthly Chapter Meeting\, 4th Tuesday of almost every month at 7PM (with social time at 6:30PM). We will have a table with seeds to swap. Bring some seeds to share. You are also welcome to bring food or drink to share. \n\n\n\nDIFFERENT location than usual: 7405 Twilight Shadow Drive\, Austin\, TX 78749.The meeting has a Zoom hybrid option as well. To attend online\, you must register for the Zoom meeting. \n\n\n\nPlease note that there is no Austin Chapter meeting in April due to the NPSOT Austin Chapter’s Spring Native Plant Sale on April 26 at 11AM-3PM.
