You will hear from current projects at two sites: Ward Elementary Pollinator Garden at John F. Ward Elementary\, and Hometown Heroes Park in League City. In addition\, we will also have updates on previously funded projects that are currently thriving\, showcasing the continued impact and success of our grant program. \n\n\n\nAbout the Sites\n\n\n\nWard Elementary Pollinator Garden at John F. Ward Elementary (Clear Creek ISD): Ward’s school garden aims to serve as a safe haven and nursery for pollinators. And\, importantly\, will also provide context for teaching students and their families about the importance of pollinators and native plants. \n\n\n\nPollinator Garden at Hometown Heroes Park (League City): This Eagle Scout project\, located on the 5K Loop Trail at Hometown Heroes Park\, features plants that provide nectar and pollen sources to a wide range of pollinators\, including bees\, butterflies\, and hummingbirds. \n\n\n\nIn-person – Parking Pass Required\n\n\n\nIf you have a pass\, don’t forget it – you will not get another one if you picked one up previously. If you need a pass\, arrive early enough to pick one up in Room 1333 (meeting room) and to place it in your car. DESCRIPTION:Habitat volunteers help weed and mulch flower beds\, plant native plants\, maintain pathways\, and trim trees and bushes. Volunteers may also help clean out the pond on select work days. \n\n\n\n\nNo experience necessary—we’ll show you what goes and what stays\n\n\n\nBring your own tools or use ours (we have gloves too)\n\n\n\nDon’t forget to bring a reusable water bottle\, hat\, and sunscreen!\n\n\n\n\nVolunteers must be 18 or older to participate in EIH’s workdays unless prior arrangements have been made. \n\n\n\nWe do not hold workdays when the university is officially closed. Also\, workdays are canceled during inclement weather\, though a light sprinkle or drizzle rarely keeps us out of the garden.
