SUMMARY:Tuesday Workday at EIH
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to propagate native plants while helping grow plants for the chapter’s plant sales. Activities include starting plants from seeds\, cuttings\, and other methods\, as well as making labels\, mixing soil\, and prepping growing trays. \n\n\n\nHabitat volunteers may also help weed and mulch flower beds\, plant native plants\, maintain pathways\, and trim trees and bushes. \n\n\n\n\nNo experience necessary\n\n\n\nBring your own tools or use ours (we have gloves too)\n\n\n\nDon’t forget to bring a reusable water bottle\, hat\, and sunscreen!\n\n\n\n\nVolunteers must be 18 or older to participate in EIH’s workdays unless prior arrangements have been made. \n\n\n\nWe do not hold workdays when the university is officially closed. Also\, workdays are canceled during inclement weather\, though a light sprinkle or drizzle rarely keeps us out of the garden. Dr. Sunn and Dr. Grainger from RainBees will share practical guidance on how to design\, manage\, and maintain an effective rainwater collection system. \n\n\n\nTopics will include understanding your rainwater needs\, evaluating and preparing your collection area\, storing rainwater safely\, filtering leaves and debris\, water filtration methods\, monitoring water levels\, and maintaining your system for long-term success. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re new to rainwater harvesting or looking to improve your current setup\, this session will provide valuable insights and actionable tips. \n\n\n\nOur meetings start with a social time at 6:00pm. SUMMARY:Boerne City Campus Natural Area (BCCNA) Workday
DESCRIPTION:Join us for BCCNA workdays! \n\n\n\nThe BCCNA project involves the restoration and enhancement of the Boerne City Campus Natural Area (BCCNA). The BCCNA is comprised of 13-acres on either side of the Old No. 9 Trail\, behind the library. We are working towards restoring this area to a native pollinator habitat\, creating a wildlife corridor and haven within the city. \n\n\n\nBCCNA Workdays take place on the first and third Thursdays of each month. \n\n\n\nOur meeting place will be in the Boerne Patrick Heath Public Library parking lot near the windmill.
