In September 2023, the Idaho State Department of Agriculture confirmed the presence of quagga mussel in the Mid-Snake River near Twin Falls. These findings marked the first time a rapid response plan had been put into action for quagga mussels in Idaho. This plan has included notifying impacted entities, implementing containment measures, conducting delimiting surveys, applying copper-based treatments, and conducting post-treatment surveys.
