Invasive Description

Quihoui Privet was Introduced from China as an ornamental. It is a semi-evergreen to evergreen shrub that grows 3 – 9 feet tall. It can be confused with Ligustrum sinense (Chinese Privet), but has narrower leaves, a very horizontal branching habit, and narrower clusters of flowers.

Ecological Threat

Quihoui Privet can completely dominate an area or forest, colonizing by root sprouts and animal-dispersed seeds. It can create a monoculture, eliminating native plants and changing the understory of a forest. It can be costly to remove from an area.
