Announcements, 7:00pm Presentation.  Note the new start time, to provide for more socializing.
Topic: Discover the Fireflies of Central Texas – Learn about different types of fireflies, why they are disappearing, how to restore and create firefly habitats, as well as information about Texas Fireflies. A firefly walk to the creek will follow 8-8:30 pm. Bring a net if you have one. Collection vials will be provided. Ben will ID any species collected. This is a do not miss firefly walk at the start of firefly season in Texas. Flashlights are discouraged unless they have a “Red” or “Green” light mode. 
Presenter: Ben Pfeiffer, a recognized firefly researcher and a Texas master naturalist. He is a 6th generation Texan who grew up exploring the hills of the Texas Hill Country and brush country of South Texas, where he developed a deep understanding of the state’s unique ecology. Ben is also a beekeeper and certified naturalist with Texas Parks & Wildlife. Ben holds a B.S. in Biology from Texas State University in San Marcos. Ben is currently a member of the IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature) – Firefly specialist group, working to evaluate the extinction risk (Red List) classification for North American firefly species.
