Deedy Wright and Theresa Thomas will be candidates for election to the State Board at the Annual Meeting in Texarkana.
Kay Jenkins, chair of the Nominating Committee, made the announcement during the quarterly board meeting in Boerne. The two will be nominated during the Annual Meeting in Texarkana on October 17 with election taking place by show of hands of those present.
Deedy Wright will be nominated for Vice President Education. Deedy is a former school teacher who has been a member of the Society since 1996. She is active in the Lindheimer Chapter which meets in New Braunfels, and helped organize that chapter’s NICE program. Deedy is interested in developing more programs for young people and organized the Youth Outreach Committee at the last fall symposium.
Theresa Thomas will be nominated for Vice President Administration. Theresa lives in Haltom City and has been a member of the Society since 2010. Since February 2013, she has served as president of the North Central Chapter, which meets at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens.
Members of the board serve a two-year term. Only two offices are up for election this year. The remaining elected officers on the Board serve terms ending in October 2015.
Other members of the Nominating Committee include Carol Feldman, Jan Hanz, Ilse Meier, Rhoda Poenisch, and Carolyn Walden. Vice President Dennis Perz served as advisor.
