A new strategic plan and a budget for 2019 will be priority items for the first state board meeting of the new year when it meets January 19 in Hillsboro.
A number of new faces will be around the table. Kimber Kaushik and Kathryn Berck were elected by the membership in October but this will be the first official board meeting for both. In addition there are two vacancies on the board. Cecil Carter, the board president, plans to nominate Jan Hanz of Austin to be VP Finance, and Mary Horn of Clear Lake to be VP Environmental Liaison. The society bylaws allow the board to fill vacancies by appointment in between elections. There are also seven returning officers in addition to chapter representatives on the state board.
A tour of the Monarch Waystation at the I-35 Safety Rest Area south of Hillsboro is planned following the meeting. The meeting will begin at 10 am at the Hampton Inn in Hillsboro.
