‘Tis the season for native plant sales

Fall is the perfect time to add natives to your new or existing garden. We think you’ll enjoy seeing them in your landscape and watching the native pollinators return.

This time of year many Native Plant Society chapters sell plants to support their local projects. You can also find sales at botanical gardens and nature centers. Here is a list of Fall 2015 native plant sales that we know of. We’ll keep this updated as more information comes in.

September 26, Arlington. Native plants for sale at the Randol Mill Park greenhouse benefiting the Molly Hollar Wildscape.

September 26, Houston. Native milkweeds for sale at the Houston Arboretum.

October 3, Arlington. The North Central Texas Chapter will hold its annual fall sale at Randol Mill Park 10 am to 2 pm. More information and a plant list.

October 3, Glen Rose.  Prairie Rose Chapter holds a sale on the lawn of Barnards Mill Art Museum during the second annual Big B Festival. Presentations on birds, butterflies, bees, bats and a bicycle race.

October 3, Kerrville. The Fall Festival and Native Plant Sale will be Saturday at Riverside Nature Center.

October 3, Nacogdoches. Pineywoods Native Plant Center, 2900 Raguet Street, starting at 9 am. Plant list.

October 9-11, Austin.  One of the most comprehensive plant sales in Texas for over 10 years at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Open to the public Saturday and Sunday. Members only on Friday.

October 10, Fredericksburg. Our Fredericksburg Chapter will hold a native plant sale on the lawn of our State Office just a block off Main Street. More information.

October 10, San Antonio. The annual  “Bexar Roots” plant sale from 9 am until noon at Phil Hardberger Park – East, sponsored by the San Antonio Chapter. More information.

October 24, Dallas.  The Dallas Chapter will hold a sale at the White Rock Local Market at the corner of Buckner and Northcliff. Read more.

Texas Native Plant Week is October 18-24. Look for special activities all that week at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and in your local area.
