Butterflies: Plant it and They Will Come!
Do you want to attract more pollinators to your yard? Just a couple small changes to what you are growing can make a big impact. Plant Passionvine, and you’ll get Gulf Frittilary butterflies. Plant Mealy Blue Sage and your yard will soon be abuzz with bees. Native plant “newbie” Haeley Giambalvo has spent the last year incorporating native pollinator host plants and nectar plants among her traditional San Antonio landscaping. No need to overhaul your entire landscaping, sacrifice your aesthetic, or remove all your grass. You can support more pollinators, one plant at a time! In this presentation, Haeley will show the specific changes she’s made in her own yard, her favorite plants for attracting different types of pollinators, and some cool pollinator facts she has learned along the way. She’ll also share how she is working to encourage others to make small but impactful improvements to their yards through her website www.NativeBackyards.com and social media (@NativeBackyards on Instagram and Facebook)
