South Austin Plant Rescue

Capital Area and Balcones Canyonlands Master Naturalists and the Native Plant Society of Texas Austin are running a native plant rescue program!

Register for our inaugural plant rescue this weekend at a south Austin residence soon to be cleared. The rescue will take place on Saturday (9:30-2:30), Sunday (11:00-2:30) and Monday (9:30-12:30).

The exact rescue address will be emailed upon signing the required forms:

  • Liability Waiver
  • Participation Agreement

Arrive on time and leave whenever you wish. Bring your own hand tools like hori hori’s and sharp shooters for digging out plants and bring bags, buckets, or containers to pot up the plants. Bring envelopes or containers for seed and materials for collecting cuttings of larger specimens if you want to try rooting cuttings. A wagon may be useful for moving plants from the site.

Safety

Site has narrow pathways, many rocks, and old T-posts and cages that are hazards when moving around. Wear close toed shoes, bring gloves, and navigate safely.

See you this weekend!
